The Flashback Pheasant Tail Nymph is a popular fly fishing nymph pattern that was first created by British fly tyer Frank Sawyer in the 1920s. It imitates mayfly nymphs and other underwater insects that trout and other fish feed on.

The pattern uses pheasant tail fibers to form the body of the nymph, giving it a lifelike segmentation. The original pattern used copper wire wrapped along the body to create a flashback effect, helping visibility for the angler.

This Nymph It can be fished alone or as part of a tandem nymph rig. Its effectiveness at catching trout has made it one of the most ubiquitous nymph patterns for fly anglers around the world.
